Trixie Belle At 15 Weeks

I may have more formal photos later this week, but for now, going with crazy, sleeping puppy.

It takes a lot of energy to grow a puppy to Great Dane size, so there is a lot of sleeping going on…and poor Scout is her favorite pillow.

Every time I come into the living room, she’s found a different way to sleep on her sister.

Occasionally she uses a real pillow, but still needs Scout close by. She’s very attached to Scout and I’m actually working on giving her some more confidence separate from Scout. Starting with her vet visit and shopping excursions, where she can ride in the basket and get lots of attention from strangers.

She does enjoy her walks around the block with just me. Scout enjoys her much longer walk alone with me, too. Gives her a chance to have one-on-one attention.

 

Acts Of Kindness: A Hero and A Fox

I’m writing a weekly post on acts of kindness for another blog and I decided I’m going ot share them here, as well.

Today we have a hero rescuing a little girl and the joyful follow-up of going home from the hospital and a local musician and his favorite audience ever, a neighborhood fox.

The situation could have been much worse if a good Samaritan hadn’t rushed to help when she saw the incident unfold before her eyes.

“I was looking out my window, and saw the kids to fall in,” said Dusti Talavera, who lives at the Addison at Cherry Creek apartments. “Before I realized it, I was on the pond pulling the two kids out, and that’s when I fell in the pond for the third kid.”

She recalled her story at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon in a press conference. Talavera told CBS4’s Mekialaya White she acted immediately, not hesitating to put on her shoes and run outside to help the kids. She attempted to rescue them in water 15-feet deep.

“I knew it was me. It had to be me,” said Talavera.

Two of the kids made it out safely and unharmed. However, once Talavera was able to bring the 6 year old up to the surface and onto the sidewalk, she wasn’t breathing. She also had no pulse and was cold to the touch with soaked clothes.

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Deputy David Rodriguez removed her coat and immediately began chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Also assisting in life-saving CPR were Deputy Blaine Moulton and Deputy Justin Dillard. This continued until South Metro Fire Rescue arrived at took-over life-saving measures.

Trixie Belle At 14 Weeks

Trixie at 14 weeks

Our vet visit was a bit delayed by holidays and then the snow last week. But we finally got there on Monday.
Trixie – skinny butt that she is, weighed in at 39.6 lbs

Scout at 14 weeks was 26 lbs
Bixby at 14 weeks was 36 lbs and he was a chunk.
Her feet are almost the size of Scout’s.

I’m pretty sure this is how Clifford the Big Red Puppy started out. 😲  This keeps up, I’m going to need a bigger car.

She just keeps growing…

We had company the other night and the pups decided to be extra cute:

Scout decided to join Trixie in her crate…I suppose it’s only fair it used to be hers and Bixby’s before that. But really…

Emma would like everyone to know it is really her crate and she just lets the dogs borrow it. Here she is explaining that to Trixie, as she has explained it to each dog before.

Trixie Diaries: Thirteen Weeks And Still Hasn’t Grown Into Those Ears

Trixie is doing great and is just the sweetest, funniest pup ever. I don’t even really have stories about her escapades because she mostly runs around with Scout in the backyard (first snow video here), chews up her cardboard (video below), sleeps and grows.

She got a reward for coming into my office the other day to tell me she needed to go potty. She has consistently told me every time since – and if I’m not paying attention as I should, she makes it very clear. So we have passed a major threshold in potty training.

What do you mean Scout isn’t my personal pillow?

The other night I had to scold Trixie when she wouldn’t stop biting Scout. I was firm, loud and made her get off the couch. A moment later, she jumped back on the couch, snuggled into my chest and put her head on my shoulder and looked up at me. I swear to you she batted her eyelashes. I’m totally screwed, you know this, right?

I love how this photo makes her look chubby..she’s not, she’s all long, lean and ribs. She puts all that food into growing legs and ears, LOL.

Can’t wait to see what grows this week.
