I’m off for a week of much-needed relaxation and rejuvenation.

Experience, experience, experience. I think it’s probably the most important piece to my writing. How can I write about something I have never experienced?

So, when I had the chance to participate in an African Drumming-Singing-Dance group event, I could not pass up the chance.

I am so glad I did. It was uplifting and life-affirming.

Now, back to the actual work of writing.

My search history is probably a prosecutor’s dream. Murder, body disposal, tracking apps, weaponry (although I do have an actual expert I consult with on most weapons.), not to mention various art thefts and counterfeiting.

There must be distractions to help the creative mind do its thing.

I’m refinishing my kitchen table. It’s a hundred+ years old and I picked it up for free from the original family. Solid walnut and deserving of some attention, I decided to strip it and restore it to its original colors. There is something very freeing about sanding and letting my mind wander.

This is not what it looks like. I did not, in a fit of pique, obliterate my little town of Duxbridge.

Usually, this board is filled with note cards containing plot lines, character names, and random thoughts, a map of Duxbridge, and post-it notes with names and sudden inspirations.
