Monday Menu: An Interesting Detour

You might think this post is about lovely tomatoes from my garden making an excellent tomato sandwich. It’s not.

It’s really about this amazing find from a thrift store last week.

This is a 1926 single-slice Art Deco toaster (according to the model number on the bottom). Someone clearly loved it, as it looks almost new inside and out. And it was masterfully rewired so that it works beautifully. Although I doubt I’ll use it much, I don’t want to overwork an almost 100-year-old appliance.

One of the few things I collect is anything Art Deco, including some beautiful furniture. So this was quite the score for me. Although the pups preferred the new/used stuffies I brought home for them. Still on the hunt for a stuffed monkey for Jasper to replace his favorite bedtime snuggle. Who knows what I’ll find as I continue that search.

Now here is the most important question. Should sandwiches be cut in half diagonally to make triangles, or straight down the middle to make rectangles? I think from the photo you know my answer.

We’ll resume regular recipes next week. Meanwhile, I hope you can enjoy fresh veggies from someone’s garden as harvest season continues.
