Monday Menu: When Recipes Fail

I’m never afraid to try something new. But this is my second fail trying to make air fryer “donuts.” This version was to be Apple Fritters.

I checked out multiple recipes, and they were all basically the same. And made promises I just don’t think they could keep.

These were lifeless with a rubbery texture, much like the “just like fried donuts” recipe I tried earlier this summer. I don’t think it is possible to get the texture that makes donuts and fritters so appealing, in the air fryer. It was mostly a waste of a really good couple of apples.

So, my advice? If you want a donut, get a donut. You’ll be happier, and I don’t think the calorie difference is enough to justify leaving you unsatisfied.

Not to leave you hanging, here’s a Hearty Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese menu that is levels above any canned soup (though there is still room for that canned soup when you need to feel nostalgic – or when you are sick).

How about you? Have you had any success with air fryer donuts? What is your secret if you have?
