Furry Friday: Holiday Cat

Every year, I have to debate on a tree or not. The year Trixie came it was absolutely no way there could be a tree (see here). Or the year I had both one year old Willow, and bull-in-a-China-shop Jasper, I managed to have a tree and it survived beautifully.

Last year, with Reggie being a rambunctious kitten, I opted out of a tree, actually most decorations. But this year, I really wanted a real tree. Every few years, I opt for a tabletop tree instead of my cute candlestick fake tree.

I decided, despite the challenges, I wanted one this year. Found a really nice one and crossed my fingers it would all work out.

Monday Menu: Peppermint Bark

Peppermint bark on a cutting board

The peppermint bark before I broke it into serving pieces.

I used his Toffee recipe and he made it so easy, I now make it every year. Here’s his Peppermint bark. I used 70% dark chocolate chips, white chocolate chips AND instead of candy canes, which I think the flavor is just so-so, I bought actual peppermints. I think they have a better, more authentic peppermint flavor.

I also like a thinner bark, so I used a 9×9 pan, per his instructions.

Work Wednesday: First Snow

I do love the first snow of the season. Then, I’m kinda over it. But did enjoy the pre-dawn backyard. Even the shoveling.

Because of the pups, I have to shovel the patio before they can go out and make it an ice rink.

Okay, back to work for me…
